Empowering Communities Through Meaningful Investment
We believe our success is intrinsically tied to the prosperity and wellbeing of the communities in which we operate. From the earliest stages of exploration at our Muntanga Uranium Project, we have been committed to building long-term, trust-based relationships with local stakeholders — including farmers, families, traditional leaders, NGOs and local governments.
Our community programs are designed to deliver tangible, lasting benefits across education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure. We work hand-in-hand with local partners to create opportunities for development that extend far beyond the life of the mine.
Education: Building Foundations for the Future
Education has always been at the heart of our community initiatives. In partnership with the Zambian Ministry of Education, we are proud to support both children’s learning and adult education in the Siavonga and Chirundu Districts.
Our Back to School Project, run in collaboration with the District Education Board Secretaries (DEBS), provides adult literacy and numeracy classes to residents who previously lacked access to formal education. These skills open doors to potential employment opportunities at the Muntanga Project and beyond, supporting individuals and families on their path to economic empowerment.
We have also funded the rehabilitation of teacher houses, the construction of classroom blocks, and the installation of solar power systems at schools in Hachibozu, Muntanga, and Njame. In addition, we have sponsored vocational training for young adults, helping equip them with practical trade skills in mechanics, electrical work, and plumbing — key competencies for supporting both the mine and local development.
Health and Wellbeing: Enhancing Quality of Life
Improving access to healthcare is essential for sustainable development. We have invested in local clinics by sponsoring Community Health Assistant training, building a nurse’s house, and donating solar systems to ensure reliable power supply for critical medical services.
Water and Agriculture: Supporting Daily Life
Access to clean water and resilient agriculture is essential for community wellbeing. In response to needs across our project area, Atomic Eagle has supported the repair and improvement of local water infrastructure to ensure reliable supply for both households and livestock.
We have helped to strengthen food security by distributing drought-resistant seed varieties and sponsoring training in sustainable farming techniques, including the use of non-chemical fertilizers. These initiatives aim to lower farming costs, improve yields, and build long-term resilience for local communities.
